Returns And Warranty

Faulty, wrong or no longer needed? Here is what we do, in plain words. This policy covers parts bought from Dr Spares Online, on this website or on WhatsApp.

Faulty Parts: 6-Month Warranty

Every new part we sell must be of good quality, work as it should and last a reasonable time. If a part is faulty within 6 months of the day you received or collected it, bring it back and choose one of these:

  • we repair it,
  • we replace it, or
  • we refund the price you paid.

You need proof of purchase: your invoice, your WEB order number or your EFT proof of payment. We pay the cost of getting a faulty part back to us, and it travels at our risk, or you bring it to a branch.

We check every returned part, and some parts go to the maker for testing. We tell you how long that takes, and your choice of repair, replacement or refund still stands. If we repair a part and within 3 months the fault is not fixed, or a new fault shows up, we replace it or refund you.

The warranty does not cover normal wear (for example brake pads and clutch plates wear out with use), damage from fitting the part wrongly, or fitting it to a car it was not meant for (unless we confirmed it fits that car), accidents, misuse, or a part that was changed or used against the maker's instructions. If a fitted part fails, keep the part and your mechanic's invoice; it helps us sort it out quickly. A part that wears out much faster than normal is treated as faulty.

The warranty covers the part itself. We do not automatically pay labour, towing or other costs, but if a faulty part causes damage or loss you keep all your rights under the law, including section 61 of the Consumer Protection Act.

Wrong Part Supplied By Us

If we send or hand over a part that is not what you ordered, or not the part we confirmed fits your car from your VIN, we exchange it free and pay the delivery both ways. If we cannot supply the right part, we refund you in full, including the delivery fee you paid.

Please check the new part against your old one before it is fitted, and tell us as soon as you can. If the part does not fit because the car details we were given were wrong, the change of mind rules below apply.

Change Of Mind: 7 Days

Ordered the part and no longer need it? You can cancel within 7 days of the day you received or collected it. Please:

  • keep it unused and do not fit it,
  • return it in its original packaging, complete and undamaged, with the seal unbroken, and
  • give us your WEB order number.

You pay only the direct cost of sending it back, or you bring it to a branch. Once we have checked it, we refund the price of the part and the delivery fee you paid when you ordered it.

If you bought as a private person, this is also your 7-day cooling-off right under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and you can use it for any reason. If the part comes back used, fitted, damaged, incomplete or with the seal broken, we may deduct a reasonable amount for the damage or for making it saleable again, and we show you how we worked it out.

Trade Customers: Parts We Cannot Take Back For Change Of Mind

For workshops, fleets and resellers, these parts cannot be returned for change of mind. Private buyers can still return them within 7 days under the rule above, but we may make the deduction described there.

  • Electrical parts once the packet is opened. Sensors, coils, switches, relays, globes and other electrical parts can be damaged by testing or fitting, so we cannot sell them again. Keep the packet sealed until you are sure.
  • Fitted parts, unless the part is faulty or we supplied the wrong part.

Special-Order Parts

Parts we order in only for you need a deposit before we order. If you cancel before we have placed the order with our supplier, we refund the deposit in full. If you cancel after that, we may keep a reasonable cancellation charge that covers our actual costs, such as our supplier's restocking fee and courier costs, and we refund the rest. We tell you the likely charge before you pay the deposit.

All of these parts are still covered by the 6-month warranty if they are faulty, and by the wrong part rule above.

Refunds

We refund by EFT within 7 working days after we have received and checked the part, and in any case within 30 days of the day you cancel. We pay back into the account you paid from, or into an account in your name that you confirm to us in writing on WhatsApp.
